Design and Project Management

Robert was born and raised in Minnesota where he received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Minnesota School of Architecture in 1971. The formative years of his career were spent in respected Minneapolis architectural firms where he developed his design and management skills. A Bay Area architect since 1980, he specializes in managing the design and Agency approval processing for corporate office, retail and commercial retrofits; light industrial pre-engineered and concrete tilt-ups; high technology tenant improvements; multi-unit residential development; and remedial construction. His career highlights include: Principal/President of ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN MANAGEMENT; Principal/Vice-President of MacKinlay Winnacker & McNeil Architects, Oakland; Senior Associate of ER Architects, Los Altos; & Director of Planning of HMH Inc, San Jose. Robert has held membership in the AIA since 1974 and is licensed in both Minnesota and California.

Robert founded ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN MANAGEMENT in 1986 recognizing that to complete a successful project, designed and built with the speed and execution that leading Bay Area companies demand, the architect must provide organizational and leadership skills. Throughout his career, Robert has provided the creative vision and architectural leadership to his projects many constituents – clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and technical consultants to align their goals, to agree on methodology and to establish metrics of success. He has developed organizational and scheduling strategies which identify the critical areas of focus in the early planning stages of the project, has developed review and coordination procedures to maintain design continuity throughout the completion of the construction documents, and has codified application and procedural response in order to streamline agency approval processing. Award winning designs and successful projects have been recognized in six states.

Business Communications and Development

Shelley was born and raised in Minnesota. Educated in Business and Marketing from the University of Minnesota, she brings twenty years of marketing and telecommunication skills to the firm. Prior to joining ADM, Shelley was President and CEO of an International business-to-business marketing company and President of Cordes International, a consulting firm developing marketing and telecommunications strategies for start-up and growing companies. Shelley effectively communicates to clients the services which best support their project needs and has developed a unique TEAM formula approach to project administration that has successfully translated short term commissions into long term relationships.

Robert & Shelley have been married for over forty years, have two grown sons and two lovely grand-daughters.
